'HE'S SEARCHING FOR THE DAD HE NEVER KNEW'(The Straits Times Saturday, June17 2006, Home Pg 12)Write 4 reviews in the holidays, 1 per week.
My feelings:
The moment I finished reading this article, something swelled inside me. I felt sad, so sad. To think such a thing could actually be happening in this world.'Fathers abandoning their children...', have the people in this world become icy cold in their hearts?
Why did the father abandon Mr Jamil in the first place? It took so long for the father to realise his mistake and come looking for Mr Jamil. If I was the father, I would not even have the face to face the son I had abandon so many years ago. It is good that Mr Jamil still cares about his natural father, which I respect him for it. It takes a really strong person to bear the truth about one's own parents, which Mr Jamil did, moreover at the age of just 12 years old!
I hope that Mr Jamil would find his father so that they could both live happily together. It would be such a sight to see tears rolling down the cheeks of both father and son, hugging each other happily. Imagine that!

'DENGUE CLUSTER AT FARRER ROAD CONDO'(The Straits Times Friday,June 16 2006, HOME Cover Page)Write 4 reviews in the holidays, 1 per week.
My feelings:
After reading this article, thanks to the irresponsible residents, I no longer feel safe in Singapore. Especially with those mosqitoes around. I mean, which sane person in this world would feel safe living so close with dengue mosqitoes?
Instead of regretting their mistakes, these residents blamed instead on the construction workers working nearby on the new Circle Line MRT outside their condo, which goes to show how irresponsible and selfish they are. After giving out so many pamphlets and fliers to the residents, they should have been more careful already. To think officers could find, just in one flowerpot alone, one hundred larvae of the dengue-carrying Aedes mosqitoes!
Through this incident, I hope that Singaporeans would be more careful now. I also hope that officers would redouble their efforts in controlling these dangerous mosqitoes.

'KNIFE CULTURE GROWING AMONG BRITISH YOUTHS'(The Straits Times Saturday,June 10 2006, WORLD Pg 36)Write 4 reviews in the holidays, 1 per week.
My feelings:
I felt shocked when I read about this. To think that youths nowadays are getting from bad to worse, especially in such a cultured place like Britain! Personally, I am a person who does not encourage violence. Therefore I must say that I disapproved of this behaviour and am utterly disappointed.
I cannot agree more when experts blamed it partly in the world we live in, our surroundings etc. True enough, one can easily see that the society youths grow up in, where the music, video games and films are saturated with violence. In my opinion, parents are to be blamed as well. They should be guiding their child , teaching them how to become better people. Sometimes, discipline has to be enforced as some youths cannot listen and be good through scoldings.
I am glad that measures are being taken to counter this rising threat to our society. Thank the British police force for their efficiency. I do not think that there is a need for the punishments to be harsher as opposed to parents who wanted harsher ones.

'NEW EVIDENCE SUGGESTS MORE IRAQ ASTROCITIES BY US TROOPS' (The Straits Times Saturday, June 3 2006, pg 4) Write 4 reviews in the holidays, 1 per week.
My feelings:
I feel that it is too much of the US soldiers to commit such sinful things, like the killing and massacre of innocent civillians. After all, they are the marines, whose jobs are to protect the innocent and to defend their country. Has all their training taught them nothing? From what I have read in the papers, it seems to me that the Iraqi people were not being treated like all normal humans should.
Killing Iraqi people straightaway without conducting the proper investigations based just upon suspicions is totally unacceptable. It is no wonder more and more people around the world are unhappy with the presence of US forces in Iraq. I can fully understand the feelings and outrage of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mr al-Maliki. I hope that the investigations being conducted on the alleged killings will be fair to everyone, including the victims. Justice would definitely be served to those who deserve it.
On a last note, this, in my opinion, would not serve to increase Bush's already 'not so good' reputation.

SEX VIDEO: GOOD OR BAD?
I think that this is something terribly wrong. To make a video out of your own sexual acts is a digusting thing to do. By doing a video, i feel that their bodies are cheapened somehow and does not worth as much as before. I do not think there is any differnce between the people involved and porn stars. In my own opinion, youths should know what is the differnce between artfully nude and pornography. Knowing this, they might then reconsider if they want to do it or not. there are many disadvantages in recording your sexual acts in a mobile phone. One of them is that the handphone may get lost, finding its way into person's hands who then might upload it on the net for all to see. I am not saying that i think it is right, but people should consider carefully where to store their video. In short, i think that these people are inmature and shameless.
